We cover our running costs through spot advertising on the station and website and sponsorship of programmes and features.

We are Wirral’s internet community station. Since 2019 we have been bringing you an amazing variety of shows, supporting local organisations and promoting local talent.
We are a not-for-profit run by volunteers and throughout the pandemic, despite no government funding, we have continued to be a vital resource to our communities sharing news, boosting moral and playing fantastic music 24/7.
Now we want to continue to DO MORE – bringing more music, more talent, more local organisations to more listeners.

OUR Vision
Our vision is to use the reach of the internet to provide the Wirral with an online community radio station which covers local activities and groups, showcases local talent and projects of interest.
We also want to provide the opportunity for all parts of the community to have an active role in running and providing content for a local radio station.
It is our aim to be the first port of call for you to share your community events with the rest of the Wirral.

There’s more to a successful radio station than just a great presenter behind the microphone. A radio station relies on a host of skills to make it work.
We are seeking enthusiastic volunteers from all backgrounds who want to be involved in developing and growing Wirral Wave Radio – an exciting local community radio online broadcaster, based in Hamilton Square, Birkenhead.
Do you want to work in local radio?
- Do you have skills that you’d like to put to good use, but don’t necessarily want to go on-air?
- Or do you have a confident personality and see yourself hosting a radio show?
- Limited experience? We can train and support you if you can commit your time to get involved.
